enator William R. Dutton is a man of many sided capabilities and various enterprises for the advancement of the business and other interests of the community in which he lives. Senator Dutton has won the co-operation of all who desire the public good. He is an editor and publisher and a political power in the Republican party, representing the citizens of Grant, Kay and Osage counties in the upper house in the third and fourth legislatures. He was born in Belmont county, Ohio, 1858, graduating from the National Normal University of that state. Taught school for a time, and later entered into journalism. He was chief in the census bureau at Washington for a term, was postmaster at Anadarko from 1901 to 1903 and is now postmaster at Foraker. Mr. Dutton served two terms in the Ohio legislature. In the fourth Oklahoma legislature he was a member of committees on Rules and Committees, Roads and Highways, Agriculture, Public Buildings and Capitol, Oil and Gas, Public Printing, and Congressional Apportionment." Mr. Dutton served as a senator in the Third Legislature of Oklahoma for the Ninth District whose term expired in 1914. Senate Journal, Extra Session, Third Legislature, Oklahoma, 1910. William Robert Dutton edited and published a weekly newspaper, the Seneca News-Dispatch, Newton County, Seneca, Missouri, from 1922 until his death in 1934. Prior to buying the Seneca newspaper, he published the Foraker Tribune, Foraker, Oklahoma, from 1906 to 1910 when the paper merged with The News and became the Foraker Sun in 1911.
